It’s been a long, long time.

I received a post in my email this morning from someone I used to follow quite regularly. It surprised me, because I had all but given up on this blog. It also surprised me how happy I was to hear that this person’s life was becoming joyful again. It made me realize that connections, once made, remain in place regardless of time, neglect, or choice.

I’ve made lots of choices over the past year or two, some good, some not so good, but what I’ve come to learn and accept is that I’m a product of all the connections in my life. I’ve also learned that I can choose which connections I want to keep active and which I want to allow to ‘sleep’. A connection, once made, can never be undone. It can be released, though, and looked upon with wonder, amazement, sadness, curiosity, even anger. The truth about connections is that they shape you, they help make you the person you intend to be.

And so, today, I am grateful for all the connections I’ve made in my life — all the amazing people and experiences that have come to me because of them.
