Day 130 — A nice day. Relatively warm, but windy. Always windy. We decided on a colour for the deck stain. Now, we just need to go get the stain and do the work. It’s funny to think that we’re nearly in the middle of May. Not much work time left in this school year. Am looking forward to summer. And all that it brings.
Day 116 and 117 — Thursday and Friday. They dragged. For some reason, since we got back from our holiday I always feel like I’m one day ahead. It’s awful come Wednesday because I feel it should be Thursday. And then Thursday I wake up with the hopeful feeling that it’s Friday. It’s more than a little disconcerting. There are only 2 months left in this work year, I’m going to do my absolute best to get myself attuned to the work week. Or, it’s gonna be one helluva long haul.
Day 115 — I saw swans winging there way in a sunny blue sky this morning. It made me smile. I wished I could chase after them, but I was on my way to work. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how nice it would be to not have to get up and go to work every day. But the Universe has yet to bless me with enough money to make that a reality. I’ll just have to keep believing that one day it will be so.
Day 112 — Spent the morning relaxing after the partying the night before. Rick and Connie stayed for the rest of the weekend and we had a nice visit. Went up to WEM and then for dinner and a couple of hours at the casino. Only Connie was the lucky one. Didn’t stay too long — I had to work the next day. Sigh.
Day 99 — Monday. Not much to be said — back to work. The start of the long haul. There will be only one long weekend between now and the end of the school year. The good thing about today? Getting home.
Day 93 – 96 — It was back to work on Tuesday. I was still exhausted. Trying to catch up on a missed 35 hours of sleep takes a while, I discovered. On Monday evening my son came by the house to see if I could go watch my two oldest grandkids because they had to take the youngest to the hospital. No thought, only go. He had been throwing up all day and finally the doctor said to bring him in. I didn’t feel tired until about 11 o’clock, then it hit me like a brick. I pulled a blanket over myself and went to sleep with the phone by my hand.
They called around 11:30 to say they were still waiting, but that Ethan was, thankfully, sleeping. I called my husband to tell him the news and he offered to come relieve me so that I could go home and get some sleep before going to work in the morning. When the alarm went off at 6 I thought briefly of just laying there and pretending I hadn’t heard it. But, wondering what was happening with the kids, I got up and grabbed the phone. They still hadn’t left the hospital, but Ethan was doing much better. Sigh. Huge sigh.
I called them around 8, just before I headed out the door and they said they had just got home. So, that was a relief.
The rest of the week went relatively okay, except for the snowstorm that developed on Wednesday. Another snow storm! Thankfully, it wasn’t near as bad as the last one. But with the Spring-like temperatures (insert a big snort here) the snow was wet and heavy and made the roads a little dicey.
I spent the week getting caught up to speed with work and trying — not very successfully — to get my house in order. It’s funny, when you go away on vacation, even though you clean everything before you go, the house is a disaster the minute you walk through the door.
I had a busy week with trying to get ready for a grievance hearing with our employer and then getting some other Union business tied up.
All in all, I probably could have used another week off.
Day 77 – Out in OP this week. A good day. Four more days til Spring Break.
Day 74 — Ah, finally at Friday. It was a busy week; running to and from the dentist, shopping, working and just generally trying to stay ahead of the game. Went out for dinner with my friend Kathy for supper. Original Joes in the Fort. Food is always fantastic. We had a great time just chatting and laughing. And the mud pie we shared? To fricking die for! Calorie wise a disaster, but worth every yummy bite.
Day 72 — An interesting, rather productive day. A long one, too. After work was done I had to go back to the dentist. Seems things can never go right the first time for me when I get dental work done. Oh, no, no, no — not me. Hopefully, I don’t need to make a return trip. Then, I went shopping! Found another cute dress. Yes! And only $24 at Superstore. Can’t beat that — cheap fashion.
Day 71 — A good day, all around. Work is getting more and more comfortable every day. The kids are such sweeties. I like working in two different locations — really breaks up the routine. Had a fantastic workout on the treadmill today — pushed myself just a little bit past my normal — felt good to know I could.
